A devastating tragedy struck Nepal’s capital last night as parts of Kathmandu were engulfed in a massive fire

, leaving the nation in shock and mourning.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as fire swept through several buildings in the city center shortly after 9:45 p.m. Thick black smoke darkened the sky while bright flames lit up the streets, visible from miles away.

Residents rushed to escape while emergency sirens echoed across the city. Local hospitals have reported a surge of patients suffering from smoke inhalation and burn injuries.

Rescue Efforts Underway

The Kathmandu Fire Department, assisted by Nepal Police and Army units, deployed 

dozens of fire  trucks and rescue teams throughout the night. Officials confirmed that hundreds of people were evacuated, though several remain missing as of early this morning.

“This is one of the worst urban disasters Nepal has faced in recent years,” said Fire Chief Rajendra Bista. “Our teams are working tirelessly to control the flames and save lives.”

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal issued an urgent statement, calling the fire a “national tragedy” and promising full support for victims. He also pledged an immediate investigation into the cause of the disaster.
